The okonomiyaki has a thin batter and plenty of fillings, making it a satisfying choice for anyone who likes the ingredients to take centre stage. Some diners say the seafood has a pleasantly springy texture and the seasoning is not too strong. It makes for a hearty dinner built around okonomiyaki and seafood dishes.
One diner expected Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki from the restaurant’s name, but found that it serves the Kansai style instead. Yakisoba is also a popular order at Onomichiya in Kitashinchi, and some diners particularly enjoy the salt yakisoba. For another dish, try the addictive konnyaku, described as resembling diced steak in both appearance and flavour, or the sunagimo-tama, which has also been recommended as a snack with drinks. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are available, making it an option for a casual evening centred on teppan-grilled dishes.
